Infinidat releases a new version of InfiniGuard to strengthen cyber resilience

The update features automated network fencing and improved performance

Infinidat has recently presented InfiniSafe - new software for its data protection and recovery solution InfiniGuard that is claimed to bring cyber resiliency to a whole new level.

The software provides a fenced forensic network for data validation and recovery, as well as immutable snapshots, logical air-gapped protection, and almost instantaneous recovery by using all disk drive spindles in the restore operation.

Considering that cyberattacks are on the rise, InfiniSafe technology gives enterprises a much-needed advantage in their fight for data security.

Automated fenced networks

The newly introduced fenced network isolates the device from its main network and provides a safe space to analyze the available backups. Since the primary network is not influenced by this process, datasets can be safely tested to find the one unaffected by malware or ransomware and restore it, while disregarding the compromised backups.

Apart from strengthening companies' cyber resilience, this feature also allows using a single InfiniGuard system instead of two separate ones, which means serious cost savings.

Faster performance

InfiniGuard is a purpose-built backup appliance (PBBA) built on InfiniBox architecture and preinstalled in a 42U rack. It consists of three Data Deduplication Engines (DDEs), which were also upgraded to increase the throughput.

With new B4300 hardware based on the F4300 InfiniBox, InfiniGuard can now backup data at up to 180 TB/hour - more than double the speed of its previous models. That also shortens the remote replication time and results in a significantly faster full recovery.

According to Infinidat, the recovery of a 1.2PB backup dataset can now be done in 13 minutes and 30 seconds. After that, the data is available for a restore, so a full recovery takes under 30 minutes – a new record among PBBAs.

The new InfiniGuard boosts cyber resilience based on our cutting-edge InfiniSafe technology, accelerates replication to alternative sites, and transforms what is possible for modern data protection and backup. InfiniGuard sets a new standard for preparedness in the face of increasingly dangerous cyberattacks,” stated Phil Bullinger, CEO of Infinidat.
